FRIENDS OF GOD By Alf Collins
The day God called you out of darkness into light is the day He declared you as friend. This friendship is not based on who you are, where you work, where you live, what car you drive, who you’re married to, or even the amount of your bank balance. This friendship is given as a free gift, and although it has to be received by faith in Jesus, it is one hundred percent unconditional.
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Before we became friends of God, we did not understand the things of God. The Kingdom of Heaven was a mystery. The Gospel was a misnomer, a contradiction in terms. An anomaly confounding human reason, logic, and intellect. When we became Children of God we became a living part of this mystery. We became an integrated part of the power of God for others to see in us. Evidence of this is recorded throughout biblical history as shown in the following Scriptures:
So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp,…
And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. [Gen. 15:6]
2 Chronicles 20:7
Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?
But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend.
And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ [1 Sam. 13:14].
True friends are hard to find specially in today’s time where not even a signed paper contract has any value. A true friend will stick with you through the valley of the shadow of death as much as he would the mountains tops of God. Jesus is one such friend. The perfect friend who never leaves nor forsakes but is always right there aside us, not matter what we endure.
